The opposite case is the same: I find it sometimes difficult to understand Thai people speaking English without being able to handle the English or European Languages notion of personal pronouns. I have to ask constantly who they are referring to. Interesting with different notions.

You pronounced the tones correctly, but you wrote both words as having the same tone in the description. การ์ด has a high tone, even though the spelling rules say it should be low tone like กาด. It confuses me how many English words are high tone even though the spelling rules indicate different tones, like in ชีส chíit is high tone instead of falling and คอมพิวเตอร์ (kaawm-píu-dtôoe) has high and falling at the end instead of having all mid tone. They could write it ก๊าร์ด to match the pronunciation, but I guess they didn't wanna bother having so many high tones? 😆 I'm thankful whenever words are pronounced exactly like they're spelled, like แอร์, แท็กซี่, and เชอร์รี่, instead of the surprise tones like บอส (bóot), คอนโดมิเนียม (kaawn-doo-míi-nîiam), and อะโวคาโด 😂 English does have a lot of crazy spelling exceptions, so I suppose it's realistic for Thai to have many spelling irregularities. And it does make learning the language feel very adventurous guessing how to read an ambiguous word like สัตววิทยา 😂 I don't think anybody would be able to guess that word has 6 syllables at face value ขอบคุณครับ 🙏🧋🌈
